Nostalgic 8bit geeks of Brisbane rejoice! C64 Night 2013 is at the end of this month.

Last year, a group of my old C64 demoscene friends went to the 2012 C64 Night as a bit of a nostalgic look back at how we all came to be friends and the geekery that brought us together.

It was a fun night. We exchanged information with others on their collection of hardware and and the gaming culture of that era along with our tales of what it was like to be coding in assembly and trying to exploit the hardware of the machines.

Well, it’s on again.  Those awesome guys who organised the previous C64 Nights have let people know via a Lemon64 forum thread that they’re back this year.

[important]You can see what people are saying in the Lemon64 forum:

I could describe the event but their poster and the lemon64 thread tells you all you would want to know. 🙂

So, November 30, 2013 at the Bray Hall in Petrie, Queensland, Australia. There’s a $5 cover charge that goes towards the cost of hosting this event.

You’ll find all sorts of people and computers there on the night. There were gamers, technicians, demoscene coders and others with just a general interest in old school tech. Some of the hardware that I saw even included the rare “Mimic Spartan Apple II+ compatibility box“. We brought along the “Turbo Chameleon” FPGA C64 & Amiga emulator that actually plugs in to a real C64 as a flashcart and a hardware capabilities extender.

It was an amazing walk down memory lane. Just knowing there is other lounge & bedroom computing hobbyists reliving the days, somewhat warms the cockles.

There was quite a lot of people that showed up last year but spreading the word can only help more.

Hope to see you there.

Gavin
